Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to pay extra if I am bringing 2 children to class?

We welcome family participation in our classes! However, in order to ensure that all of our chefs - young and old - have safe and enjoyable experiences in the kitchen, we limit class size to 7 children total and therefore require each participating child to have paid for their spot. Enrolled siblings will have the option of making two meals each week, or working together to make one. In the latter case, the cost for the second child will be reduced by $13 per class ($65 per 5-week session).

2. I have an 18 month-old child. Is he too young to enroll in class?

Our classes are designed to meet the developmental needs of children between the ages of two and five. If you feel that your 18 to 23 month-old is able to hold his attention for at least 30 minutes or has cooked with you at home, then we would love to have you join us in the kitchen. If you'd like to talk with us further about whether your child will be old enough to participate in the class, please give us a call.

3. Can I bring a non-cooking sibling under the age of 2 to class?

While our mission is to empower families to cook together, our kitchen gets very busy when filled with chefs. For everyone's safety, we are not able to accommodate siblings under the age of 2 in class (this includes babies in car seats and front carriers).

4. Do you accommodate children with food allergies?

Yes! If your chef or family has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please email this information to info@stickyfingerscooking.com at least one week prior to class.

5. Can I come late to class?

Though we recognize it can sometimes be difficult to get to class on time, we do start promptly at the scheduled class time to ensure that we have enough time to complete each recipe and to account for the attention spans of the children who do arrive on time.

6. What is your policy if we have to miss a class or know in advance that we will be absent during the session?

Please give us a call if you know in advance that you will miss a class. If our meal for that week is freezable, one of our teachers will prepare it and have it ready for you at the next class. If the meal you miss is not freezable, we will have a "substitute meal" for you to take home on the last class of the session.

7. If my child is sick should we not come to class?

Because we are touching food and tasting ingredients in class, then we ask that you keep your child at home if you suspect that he or she is sick or contagious.

8. Once we prepare our meal during class, will there be additional cooking involved at home?

Typically, the meals that we prepare in class either involve refrigeration at home and warming before serving, or about 25-45 minutes of oven/stove cooking.

9. If I want to take the class after the session has already started, can I still sign up?

Please check with us as we might be able to accommodate you in the session at a pro-rated rate.
