Cheerio! It is time for some more proper British sweets for our Sticky Fingers Cooking students this week. Pound Cake is always a good idea.
In addition to getting loads of smiles this week, we are also teaching our Sticky Fingers Cooking students the health benefits of lemons, apples, yogurt and some fun food history from jolly ol’ England. What we like most about this pound cake is how successful it is at liberating the child baker from the rigid guidance of recipes. The amount of times people have been told that baking is an exact science is enough to scare anyone from getting creative in the kitchen. But with a pound cake recipe — one that you can cook off the top of your head — experimentation becomes simple and fun. And that’s when great baking begins to happen. Give it a try, you’ll see. But if you’re not ready for that kind of baking freedom, check out our fun Sticky Fingers Cooking lemon pound cake recipe below.
Just try not to SCOFF it all down at once (Scoff is old English for eat greedily) – It is exceptionally good.

CHEF QUOTES ARE FUN: "We were getting the table ready and trying to decide if we needed forks or not. Landon (age 10) said "I don't need a fork 'cause I know I'm going to like this so much, I'm just going to pour it right into my face!" which he basically did and licked the plate!" - Chef Dani, Denver Colorado
